Brian Alan Barnes

Brian Alan Barnes, 64, of Willis, TX, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, leaving behind a family who adored him, countless friends, and probably several people who only met him once but still considered him a friend. Brian was fun, exuberant, and always ready for a good time. He was a friend to all and truly a stranger to none. Whether he was swapping stories with an old friend or striking up a conversation with someone he had just met, Brian had a way of making people feel welcome. He brought energy into every room and rarely missed an opportunity to laugh, celebrate, or turn an ordinary day into a memorable one. He loved the beach, fishing, and Hawaiian shirts, preferably enjoyed together. Brian was happiest near the water with a fishing pole in his hand, surrounded by family and friends, and dressed like he might be headed to a luau at any moment. His collection of colorful shirts matched his personality: bright, joyful, relaxed, and impossible to overlook. More than anything, Brian loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, and the time he spent with the people he loved mattered most to him. He showed that love through laughter, stories, shared adventures, and simply being present. His family will miss his enthusiasm, his generous spirit, and the unmistakable way he made life more fun. Brian is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Chelsea Leiam, Trey & Tarren; grandchildren, Bentley & Tatum; mother, Sandy Barnes; and brother, Keith Barnes and Sean Barnes; and an enormous circle of friends who became family along the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Sunday, August 9th at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. All are welcome to gather at 1 PM with service beginning at 2 PM. In true Brian fashion, Hawaiian shirts and beach attire are encouraged. Come prepared to share a story, laugh loudly, and celebrate a man who believed life was better when everyone was included in the fun. Brian may have left the beach before the rest of us, but the joy, love, and laughter he gave us will remain. We like to imagine him somewhere with warm sand beneath his feet, a fishing pole nearby, a cold drink in hand, and a bright Hawaiian shirt blowing in the breeze...Island style....
